What a sponsored home is (and what it is not)

When we say Totukeli turns every tenancy into a sponsored home, the natural reaction is to picture a flat covered in logos. It is exactly the opposite of what we are building, so it deserves a proper explanation.

The short definition

A sponsored home is a property whose tenant automatically gains access to a catalogue of benefits contributed by brands: fibre, energy discounts, mattresses, removals, home insurance. Totukeli closes each agreement once with each brand and it applies to any tenancy on the platform — nobody has to negotiate property by property.

What it is NOT

• It is not advertising inside the home. No posters, no banners, no forced mentions.
• It is not a commitment by the tenant to any brand: the benefits get used if they are of interest, and that is it.
• It is not a cost to the landlord: listing is free and the sponsorship does not touch their rent or their contract.

Why it appeals to a brand

Someone who has just moved makes more purchasing decisions in a month than in the following two years: they sign up for internet, connect the electricity, buy a mattress, insure the house. For a brand, being present at that moment with a useful offer is worth more than a thousand banner impressions. That is the only advertising that fits in Totukeli: the kind people are grateful for.

The benefits catalogue will be switched on progressively during early access, and every brand will go through a review before joining: if it does not bring a verifiable benefit, it does not get in. We would rather have a short, real catalogue than a long one full of smoke.
